The purpose behind Horsenameographies is two-fold: The first is to offer horse lovers the opportunity of telling their life stories in the eighteen letter limit of a race horse name. The second, and certainly the most important, is to raise funds for Thoroughbred rescues located in the United States.
We are launching this effort as part of our 50/50 for $5 Campaign. Through this campaign Caballo Press of Ann Arbor, the originator of Horsenameographies, will donate $2.50 to a Thoroughbred rescue for each submission. This contribution will be made to the Thoroughbred rescue of the submitter's choice.
This will be an on-going campaign and contributions will be distributed on a regular basis. For full details, please refer to the ABOUT section. We hope that you will join our efforts, as well as assist us in spreading the word about Horsenameographies, a project hailed by the Thoroughbred industry and horse lovers around the world for its unique contribution to the love of horses and life.

In January 2010 and 2012, Caballo Press of Ann Arbor asked horse lovers around the world to think about their lives and then to capture their lives in a racehorse name. Within a week hundreds of racehorse names were submitted and by the end of open submissions over four thousand submissions were received. These life stories in a racehorse name were then carefully considered for inclusion in the book, Horsenameographies: Life Stories in a Race Horse Name, by Lovers of Horses Everywhere. From submissions received over two-hundred and fifty names were selected for inclusion in the book, along with select “Photo Finish” photographs and “Back Side” stories. The book quickly reached #1 Best Seller status on Amazon in the Horse Racing category.
Since then, we’ve had horse lovers ask us time and again, “When are you guys going to do another Horsenameographies book?” Well, that time is now and we’ve decided to honor the Thoroughbreds we’re naming ourselves after, by contributing half of every name submitted to a Thoroughbred rescue located in the United States!
Even better, we’ve decided that this project will be an ongoing initiative designed to meet our company goals, as well as a way for us, and you, to contribute to a cause we all feel so strongly about.
We've also been asked if there'll be another Horsenameographies book? The answer is yes. It will be available exclusively on Amazon in both paperback and e-book format. We hope to have the book available in time for Christmas 2017. How many names will be included in the volume is up to you, but suffice it to say not everyone will be included, but each name will be given careful consideration. In the meantime, you can purchase the 5th Anniversary copy of Horsenameographies by clicking here. This new edition features a new Preface by Dr. Tony Ryan Book Award Winner and Finalist, Dr. Rudolph Alvarado, the author of Amazon #1 Bestsellers The Untold Story of Joe Hernandez: The Voice of Santa Anita and The Garrett Gomez Story: A Jockey's Journey Through Addiction and Salvation.
So Good Luck! We look forward to some excellent submissions!
